Associate Attorney

Michael Schoen

Michael Schoen is an experienced civil litigator dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate difficult personal situations and complex legal matters.

Michael has served as a child welfare attorney for the State of Indiana in Hancock, Morgan, and Montgomery Counties. In this role, he worked closely with the Family Relations Court, public defenders’ offices, and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) organizations to address matters involving child safety and well-being.

Before his work in child welfare, Michael practiced family law in central Indiana, representing clients in matters involving adoption, child support, custody, divorce, guardianship, parenting time, and visitation. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Indianapolis Legal Aid Society (ILAS), where he previously worked as a staff attorney. During his time with ILAS, Michael handled litigation while also training and mentoring interns, participating in community outreach, and contributing to a variety of special projects.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Michael gained valuable experience within the legal and administrative systems, working as an archive clerk, court clerk, and law clerk in Kentucky, as well as an administrative adjudicator for the State of Wisconsin.

Michael earned his B.A. in English from the University of Kentucky and his law degree from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law.
Outside the office, Michael enjoys games, reading fiction, and learning new creative skills, ranging from blacksmithing to knitting.
